Polynomial-Phase Signal Direction-Finding & Source-Tracking with an Acoustic Vector Sensor

چکیده

A new ESPRIT-based algorithm is proposed to estimate the direction-of-arrival of an arbitrary degree polynomialphase signal with a single acoustic vector sensor. The proposed approach requires neither a priori knowledge of the polynomial-phase signal’s coefficients nor a priori knowledge of the polynomial-phase signal’s frequency-spectrum. A preprocessing technique is also proposed to incorporate the singleforgetting-factor algorithm and multiple-forgetting-factor adaptive tracking algorithm to track a polynomial-phase signal using one acoustic vector sensor. Simulation results verify the efficacy of the proposed direction finding and source tracking algorithms.

Three Dimensional Localization of an Unknown Target Using Two Heterogeneous Sensors

Heterogeneous wireless sensor networks consist of some different types of sensor nodes deployed in a particular area. Different sensor types can measure different quantity of a source and using the combination of different measurement techniques, the minimum number of necessary sensors is reduced in localization problems. In this paper, we focus on the single source localization in a heterogene...

Acoustic correlated sources direction finding in the presence of unknown spatial correlation noise

In this paper, a new method is proposed for DOA estimation of correlated acoustic signals, in the presence of unknown spatial correlation noise. By generating a matrix from the signal subspace with the Hankel-SVD method, the correlated resource information is extracted from each eigen-vector. Then a joint-diagonalization  structure is constructed of the signal subspace and basis it, independent...

An Hybrid Cramér-Rao Bound in Closed Form for Direction-of-Arrival Estimation by an "Acoustic Vector Sensor" With Gain-Phase Uncertainties

An “acoustic vector sensor” (also known as a “vector hydrophone” in underwater or sea-surface applications) is composed of three orthogonally oriented uni-axial particle-velocity sensors, plus a “pressure-sensor” (i.e., a microphone or a hydrophone)—all collocated in a point-like spatial geometry. (This collocated setup is versatile for direction finding, because its azimuth-elevation spatial r...

Studies on underwater acoustic vector sensor for passive estimation of direction of arrival of radiating acoustic signal

A passive underwater surveillance system performs the function of detection and localisation by utilising the acoustic emissions from the source, whilst itself remaining concealed. The conventional technique employs an array of hydrophones (measure the scalar pressure), wherein the size of the array is dependent on the desired angular resolution and the wavelength of the signal to be monitored....

Accurate Indoor Localization Using Acoustic Direction Finding via Smart Phones

We propose and implement a novel indoor localization scheme, Swadloon, built upon an accurate acoustic direction finding. Swadloon leverages sensors of the smartphone without the requirement of any specialized devices. The scheme Swadloon does not rely on any fingerprints and is very easy to use: a user only needs to shake the phone for a short duration before walking and localization. Our Swad...
